Fortunately, the organ seems intact.
This organ really needs to be sampled, just in case something like this happens again...

One needs to fix the problem that starts this hatred and evil, which is turning back to the true Church, to Christ. He who goes far from God will not last long. We should be more worried about the Church, and about the Eucharist and statues, and not organs in my opinion. Of course, the organ is very important, but there are things which are far more important.

You're right of course. I just thought members of the CBCH would be especially interested in the organ...

I would think so too.

The organ may still be damaged by smoke and soot, but let's hope for the best. I don't know the layout of the church. Was it the main doors or a side entrance not below the organ loft?

Apparently, it was a side entrance.
I've been told that the organ will have to be dusted to remove some smoke residue but nothing requiring immediate work.

And now of course Notre Dame. It looks to have survived more or less, but things could have gone very differently.

I think we need to sample and preserve the sounds of these instruments, and the spaces they are in, for preservation reasons alone. Of course, the price for these samplesets could (and I understand often do) help to contribute to the maintenance or in this case the restoration of the instrument itself.

I was hesitant to comment on any of the religious aspects of these recent tragedies, but let me just say that I see them as in part an opportunity to demonstrate some shadow of the love and forgiveness for others that Jesus taught. And I'm very encouraged to see that to some degree at least this is happening. Very few people are calling for any kind of retaliation or revenge, while many, regardless of their location or faith affiliation, are digging into their already overstrained pocketbooks to try to help. Not just St. Sulpice or Notre Dame, but also some of the predominantly Black churches here in the U.S. that have been burned in recent months.
