Usb Audio interface for Multichannel output.

Thinking of getting one of these.

Thoughts?
Negatives?

I know these are mainly for input and I would be using exclusively for the output but...this is mainly for home use but added benefit for live being 8 balanced outputs for use in a hall or large church...

Hi Matt,

Honestly, either is very well suited for both input and output. The Hauptwerk forum is down for maintenance right now, but a search there concerning either of these will show many results for both units and are being used by many far as I've seen for both personal home and commercial installations of Hauptwerk such as in a church or auditorium.

Hi Matt,

Although I cannot speak to either of the units you mentioned, I would like to say that I am currently using a Behringer UMC 404 HD, which is only a 4 channel unit but since currently I only have the Basic license which limits me to 2 channels (I will eventually upgrade to Advanced license when I have the funds to do so) it does everything I need. Behringer does have larger units and based upon my experience both at home and in a church setting from time to time with this unit, AND with their Truth 2031a powered speakers which I have rented for use in a large church in a demo organ, I would highly recommend looking into them. Their prices are generally more reasonable than the more commonly used brands and their quality is top notch. In one church, I paired my system with a 9-rank Wicks pipe organ from 1941 (updated console with MIDI) and 4 of the 2031a speakers (2 per channel) in a church that seats about 750, using several different sample sets throughout the demo, and the results were beyond stunning. Good luck with your setup!

FWIW, I’ve used the Focusrite for a few years in my setup. Have had no problems with it *until* I updated my computer to Windows 10. This was just a couple months ago wherein I get a “blip” in big music passages. But it’s random and I do not know if it even might be native to Win 10. For me, I’d rather I had just upgraded to Win 7 Pro.

In any case, I do believe the Focusrite is a good interface. I make use of all 10 channels and it’s very affordable. Have had no hardware issues at all.

Hope this helps—any other questions I’m happy to answer-
