Description: | This gorgeous work needs no introduction,
The 2nd of the Trois Pieces of 1878, I have to confess that I played this MANY times and in MANY "styles". I've played the work for years, but I always agonize over it, getting it too fast, or too slow, or two rigid, or too free...
I'm not really entirely satisfied with this, but enough is enough!
Some may find the use of the Unda Maris on the Positif (along with the Cor de nuit) to be unsatisfactory.
I saw no other solution, as the Positif is very small, and the 8' Flute alone was too weak. I used the only option available...
One performer's ideal "rubato" is to another "sloppiness". I confess that mine may be too "straight" for some, but I hope the wonderfully intense lines and phrases will help save the day! |
