Robert A. Roesch (1943–2009) was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and educated at Westchester University. From 1972 through 1991 he was active throughout southern New Jersey teaching music in schools (chorus, band, and orchestra), serving many churches as organist and choirmaster, and composing music (particularly for organ and choir). His longest post during this period was at First Presbyterian Church in Frenchtown, New Jersey. The end of his first marriage in 1991 nearly ended his composing activities, though he began active composition again in the late 90s after marrying Margaret Rapp-Roesch, who also collaborated with him on the texts of choral pieces. During this period, he served several churches in the Pocono region of Pennsylvania. After a brief illness in summer 2009, he died on September 9th at the age of 65.
