Software: Hauptwerk IV

Description:
Psalm 72 is the Psalm appointed for the second Sunday in Advent (RCL).

As this is neither a political nor a religio-philisophical forum I will apologize in advance if my comments bring (unintended!!!) offense. My intent is to attempt to explain my thought process in creating these extemporized pieces.

I have attempted to create an atmosphere of questioning and in some cases, uneasy but diametric emotional opposition. As with almost all of the Psalmprovisation series, the piece contains composed themes and a premeditated structure fleshed out with improvisation.

While the initial sentiment is certainly positive, I believe the text would beckon us to look deeper than the surface meaning:

A prayer to endow the king (or government) with justice seems like a good and probably needful thing. But what is meant by justice? Events of the last few days and the last few thousand years might beg the question: Justice for whom?

Must the search for justice on a global level always entail one nation bowing down before the other as in vs. 11?

For one nation to thrive, must another invariably be brought to dust as in vs. 9
