WIDE DYNAMIC RANGE
(moves quickly from FF to PP throughout)
In a Chinese Temple Garden (1923)
Albert Ketèlbey (1875-1959)
arranged by artist
I couldn't find an organ transcription, so I took the piano transcription (1923) listened to the orchestral version...... and this is the outcome.
The sheet music calls it an "Oriental Phantasy" (spelled with a "p.") There is also a synopsis, but I won't include it, as it uses some offensive slang, which must have been acceptable when it was first published.
The Paramount gets to show her varied percussion instruments (tuned and un-tuned!) including the Chinese Block (wood) and the Chinese Gong!
This is the sixth Ketèlbey Orchestral Tone Poem I've posted here on CB; they all took time to learn, register and arrange... but it has been an enjoyable "journey."
