Genre: Modern
Description:
From the composer: "This cycle of nine preludes and fugues (2011/13) explores this familiar genre in a variety of manifestations. The preludes explore varied musical characters, serving as foils for their fugues. The fugues likewise take different approaches to the formal structure; no two follow the same plan.

Prelude and Fugue No. 4 (2013) is dedicated to Randall Mullin and Dan Daniels. The prelude employs a baroque-like aria texture, modulating from its starting key of C to end in D. The fugue, in a gentle triple meter employs a turning subject. The fugue gradually becomes less and less chromatic, and modulates back from D to C to end with a serenely pan-diatonic coda."
