While this piece is unmistakably Max Reger's (1873-1916) work, I know nothing about it.
No Opus number, not even a "real" title.
The edition I have is Edition: "Le Grand Orgue", edited by Robert Leech Bedell. He gives the title as "As Jesus stood beneath the Cross."
I took this to be, "Da Jesus an dem Kreuze stund," by the tune is obviously "Herzliebster Jesu," so, this is what I've called it.
I did this in an "English cathedral manner," using a lot of color changes in "unusual" ways. While I found it to be highly effective, I don't think it's an "historically accurate" way of playing it.
I played this earlier today on the Wirsching, and I imagine that this was a more "correct" approach... ;-)
ANY HELP in identifying thie piece would be GREATLY appreciated!
The work has been identified as "Passion, Op. 145, No. 4".
THANK YOU, jabunza!!! :-)
Here's a link to the score:

It's IDENTICAL to the edition that I have, so, in this case, Bedell did NOT "re-compose" the piece, as he sometimes liked to do... ;-)
