Description:
Well, here is my first post. Gotta get it out of the way!

I've inherited ALOT of music over the years. I'm sure many of you know what I mean. Much of it is of marginal musical quality, but every now and then you stumble across something that is rather "special". I found this in the 1997 May/June edition of The Organ Portfolio and have played this as the offertory on Memorial Day weekend for probably the past 10-12 years. Typically, I can hear the usual restlessness during the offertory, then absolute silence as Taps begins.

On a personal note to the Concert Hall contributors, thank you for all of the outstanding music! A special thank you to Agnus Dei for his help, advice, and encouragement while I began the process of putting my own instrument together. Practice time is finally satisfying!

Lyrics:
Day is done, gone the sun
From the lakes, from the hills, from the sky
All is well, safely rest
God is nigh.

Fading light dims the sight
And a star gems the sky, gleaming bright
From afar, drawing near
Falls the night.

Thanks and praise for our days
Neath the sun, neath the stars, neath the sky
As we go, this we know
God is nigh.
