American composer John Leavitt (b. 1956) is a native of Kansas and was educated at Emporia State University, Wichita State University, and University of Missouri-Kansas City. He is professor of music and director of choirs at MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas. He has published hundreds of compositions with all major American choral publishers and is also active as a conductor and clinician. Leavitt’s music has been performed in more than 30 countries worldwide.
