Was organist in the Cathedral of Cremona, in the basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Bergamo, choirmaster of the cathedral of Brescia and in the cathedral of Crema, and finally long-teacher at the Liceo Musicale in Pesaro.
The Petrali lives his artistic career in a world still marked on the organ between creativity-theatrical symphonic organ, organ-supported orchestra, and the renewal of both organ, is the organ which was among the most tenacious and convinced advocates, along with the Ceciliano nascent movement.
Petrali was the author of a lot of music for organ, mostly published author living, including citing the "Mass in F major for organ solo" and 71 "Studies for the modern organ" articulated in three books.
He composed several musical examples for the Treaty General rules on how to treat the modern organ Giambattista Castelli (Milan, F. Lucca, 1862).
