Description: | Georg Friedrich Kauffmann (1679 – 1735) is perhaps best known for the fact he was one of the competitors for the position of Kapellmeister of Leipzig, a post which ultimately went to Bach. Kaufmann studied with Buttstett and with Alberti. He composed numerous preludes and chorales. As a sort of student/teacher comparison I took a piece from Kauffmann based on the same choral Buttstett used for the piece I uploaded earlier ( http://www.contrebombarde.com/concerthall/music/16168).
This piece is probably meant to be played on the manuals alone, but it is possible to use the pedals and play the choral melody with a solo registration.
This is the version with manuals only
