In Van Gott will ich nicht lassen Buxtehude carries flgural patterns used to ornament the chorale through all four voices.
With its consistent sixteenth-note motion and use of three sixteenths, it sounds very much like an allemande, specifically the double to the Allemande of Auf meinen lieben Gott (BuxWV 179).
In this chorale Buxtehude uses a melody line that Bach uses in the second fugue motiv of Contrapunctus XVIII of Die Kunst der Fuge.
Bach obviously borrowed it and elaborated on it, as was common practice in the 17th and 18th centuries.
