Furtwängler & Hammer Imperial Cathedral Königslutter - A Kingly Instrument for a Royal Worship Space

Furtwängler & Hammer, No. 286 - A Masterpiece Saved!!!The grand organ in the Kaiserdom,&nb...

Uploaded by: achenpigeon (01/01/16)
Composer: Pancrace Royer
Sample Producer: Sonus Paradisi
Sample Set: Cembalo Mietke
Software: Hauptwerk
Genre: Baroque
I've heard someone describe this piece as "Fireworks on a harpsichord" - so I guess it's the best piece to celebrate the arrival of 2016!

For those who aren't familiar with this charming piece, it's from the first book of Royer's Pièces de clavecin published in 1746, and it's really forward-looking for its time (As for why, you'll see...)

Harpsichord tuned A = 405 in Gabler's Weingarten temperament in 1750
(Not the most authentic, but gives some of the pungency of meantone temperament while not going too overboard with dissonances)

I played the piece with only a single manual - I don't have a proper Hauptwerk setup - and did the registrations by hand.

Pardon the frequent flubbing - I must say that the Mietke sampleset is one of the least forgiving sets ever, and you need good articulation and not make many errors to sound well.

Well, enjoy, and happy 2016!
