Vladimir Tošić (b. 1949) — Medial 2 (2012) for organ
Serbian composer Vladimir Tošić (b. 1949) was educated at the University of Belgrade, where he serves as professor teaching composition, counterpoint, and harmony. His primary teacher was Vasilije Mokranjac. His music has been performed frequently throughout the world, including at many prominent music festivals. Tošić’s style adheres to what he terms “reductionist principles.” All of his pieces are based on a markedly small number of musical elements, sometimes even just a single one (timbre, rhythm, harmony, etc.) Most all of his works are created through gradual process methods. He has also been active in multimedia visual arts and has contributed papers and lectures to conferences on minimalist music.
