Description:
In the mounting seas I saw waves breaking where they shouldn't be. I wondered: Rocks? But we were too far off shore. Perhaps a floating container or... And that's when he leaped clear out of the water. Wondrous and terrifying and majestic and playful all at once. For a moment he was gone and then I saw flippers and a tail - he was rolling over - pirouetting horizontally in the water. For me what was an increasingly challenging sea state was for him the equivalent of a delightful spring day. One more leap - I presumed - I wanted to believe with all my heart - for sheer joy - and he was gone.
