Description: | The Canzona by Lohet is really a fugue in much the same style as most of his 20 fugues. Perhaps it is callec canzona, because of it's sing-like character.
To bring out the more sing-like character of the piece I tried two approaches: a recording on the sample set of the Müller-organ in the Sint Bavokerk in Haarlem using mainly the rear channels and a recording on the sample set of the Silbermann organ of the Stadtkirche Zöblitz.
The fast acoustic of the church in Haarlem contributes to the feel this piece could be sung by a choir. For the second recording I use only the Principal of the organ in Zöblitz. A Silbermann Principal is a whole instrument by itself, ideally suited to bring live to slow moving four part writing like in this canzona.
