Alfred Ernest Floyd was born in Aston, Birmingham in 1877 and after attaining a Doctorate of Music and work in the UK came to Australia in 1915 to take up the position of organist and Choir Director at St Paul’s Cathedral, Melbourne a position he held for 32 years.

The Northern Star words Anon but according to the web site below is about someone lamenting the loss of a ship and their beloved off the UK coast at Tynemouth and the Priory and Castle. The music is attached and is thought to have been written between 1920 and 1940. It is part of Two School songs.
