Gelobet seist Du, Jesu Christ, BWV 604

This is the first of two performances of this chorale that I'm uploading today.

As I understand it, the chorale, "Gelobet seist, du Jesu Christ" is one of the greatest and most important of all Lutheran Christmas hymns.

This one from the "Orgelbüchlein" is the more intimate of the two. It is joyful, but with a sense of quiet lyricism to it.

The registration used is:

Rugwerk: Fagot 16', Tremulant (played an octave higher"
Hoofdwerk: Roerfluit 8', Viol di Gamba 8'
Pedaal: Subbas 16', Octaaf 8'

The score is attached below, as well as a painting of the organ that Bach was playing at the time he wrote the "Orgelbüchlein".
