Henry Kihlken (1939–2017) was born in Sandusky, Ohio and educated in Connecticut and at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. Kihlken served numerous churches in the Connecticut and Ohio in positions as organist and music director, finishing his career with a 20 year tenure as organist of St. John Lutheran Church, Port Clinton, Ohio. He played his final church service on Easter Sunday 2017. Kihlken composed hundreds of sacred and secular works, many of which were published by a variety of firms, including Harold Flammer, MorningStar, Coronet Press, AMSI, and Sacred Music Press/Lorenz. For Coronet Press he also created numerous editions and arrangements of works by composers of earlier eras.
