This Preludio con Fuga is actually a prelude, fugue, and aria, for manuals-only throughout.

The prelude opens with a repeated 11-bar section in 2/2 time that leads into an Allegro section in 3/4 time before transitioning over to a closing Adagio passage.

The Fugue, marked "Un poco vivace", goes on for about 48 bars before changing over to Grave for the final half of the movement.

The final movement is an Aria for two contrasting manuals
