| Description: | This is the seventh movement, "Jesus takes upon himself the sufferance", from Olivier Messiaen's "The Birth of our Saviour", written in 1935. A foreshadowing of the crucifixion, and the only dark movement in the suite. However, Messiaen emphasises the transcendental nature of the sacrifice, turning it into victory over death, by ending the movement on the full organ in brilliant C sharp major. |
