Joop Schouten was born in 1907 in The Hague and he studied organ, piano and composition at the Conservatory in The Hague. He was organist of several Roman Catholic churches in The Hague and Delft. As a composer he wrote an extensive oeuvre, mainly for piano, organ and choir. Joop Schouten lived a big part of his life in Rijswijk (just like me). He died in 1983 in Beauraing (Belgium).

"La Follia" is a very old theme, used by many composers (a.o. Vivaldi).
