Hope everyone had some happy holidays and a peaceful beginning of the new year! As I kept being busy and vacation is just about to come up, I'm finally able to catch up a bit on listening and uploading on CCH. Hope you don't mind some Christmas improvisations, even if it's January already... ;-)
This "postlude" (well, sort of) was my last concert piece on Christmas Eve. I wanted to create something that was both joyful with a hint of power in it on the one hand and devout and peaceful on the other. That's why I decided to subdivide that impro into three sections: Two quiet "horn+flute" sections surrounding a short retrospective on "Come, Ye Shepherds", which had been the most prominent piece of the evening. When I listened to it a few days later, I found that the qiuet intro and outro sections would make a great stand-alone piece -- which I decided to upload as a separate version titled "A Solemn Bugle".
For those who own a 7.1 surround system, an 8-channel FLAC file can be picked up here to get an impression of what it will sound like in my living room:

- Player: Current versions of Media Player Classic are able to properly play multi-channel FLAC files.
