The Neumeister Sammlung contains 5 chorale preludes written by Georg Andreas Sorge, Neumeister’s teacher at the organ. The five pieces by Sorge were probably added after Neumeister copied the main repertoire in his manuscript. They were certainly copied from a different source, since Sorge’s preludes are not only much more recent, they are also the pieces of which a contemporary source still exists. They were taken from Sorge’s published collection of eight chorale preludes, published in 1750. The preludes by Sorge are three part pieces that lack a pedal part, relatively easy to play, and pleasant to listen to.
