I could not find if he composed about the "general" feeling of the chorale text or the specific verses.

Auf meinen lieben Gott trau ich in Angst und Not;
der kann mich allzeit retten aus Trübsal, Angst und Nöten,
mein Unglück kann er wenden, steht alls in seinen Händen.

Ob mich mein Sünd anficht, will ich verzagen nicht;
auf Christus will ich bauen und ihm allein vertrauen;
ihm will ich mich ergeben im Tod und auch im Leben.

Ob mich der Tod nimmt hin, ist Sterben mein Gewinn,
denn Christus ist mein Leben, dem will ich mich ergeben;
ich sterb heut oder morgen in ihm bin ich geborgen.

O mein Herr Jesu Christ, der du geduldig bist
für mich am Kreuz gestorben, hast mir das Heil erworben,
uns allen auch gegeben in deinem Reich das Leben.

Amen zu aller Stund sprech ich aus Herzensgrund;
du wollest selbst uns leiten, Herr Christ, zu allen Zeiten,
auf dass wir deinen Namen ohn Ende preisen. Amen.

In the first verse the author expresses in a telling way of his faith in the Lord, who is near him in anguish.

In the second verse, in the text is spoken about faith and triumph even in death. Imho this is a musical and at the end almost improvisatory feast.

The last two verses three and four are along the same lines: the fourth being a prayer.

I could be completely wrong ofcourse; therefore running a good chance of landing up being the victim of scornful and hollow laughs by the real experts. :-)
