Description:
Corbinian Gindele (1901–1986) — Kleines Orgelstück in F (1957) for organ

German composer and organist Corbinian Gindele (1901–1986) was a Dominican monk. He had been a student of Paul Hindemith and remained friends with Hindemith and his wife Gertrud for many years. During World War II, when Hindemith’s music was forbidden in Germany, Gindele was restricted from speaking publicly about Hindemith. Gindele spent most of his life at the monastery in Beuron. As a composer, he published several collections of organ pieces, both freely-composed works and preludes on Gregorian melodies. His musical style employed an extremely free use of modal harmony, characterized by fast switches between different modes and triadic collections.
