Software: Hauptwerk IV
Genre: Baroque
Description:
In this piece, 4 of the 23 strophes from Sebald Heyden's retelling the Passion in poetic form "O Mensch, bewein dein Sünde groß" are set. This is done by presenting the melody two times in canon. The tenor leads the canon in both cases. First, the answer is hidden in the soprano in inversion, just one beat away (on the third phrase it's only one eighth note away). The second canon is between the tenor and pedal, with the melody turned upside down in the minor mode.
