David de Jong (b. 1969) — Peije Rasp (in hommaazje) (2008) for organ
“Peije Rasp” was the stage name of the famous Dutch accordion player Freerk de Jong (1879–1941). A statue of Peije Rasp appears in David de Jong’s hometown of Drachten.
Dutch composer and organist David de Jong (b. 1969) was born in Drachten and studied organ for many years with Johan G. Koers. From 1985 to 1994, de Jong served as the organist of the Reformed Church in his hometown of Drachten. In 1998, he became a minister, though he has still remained active as a concert organist. He has recorded numerous CDs, including one devoted to the works of his mentor Koers.
