German organist and composer Gereon Krahforst (b. 1973) was born in Bonn and was educated in Cologne and Frankfurt. Beginning at age 25, Krahforst held various positions in Germany, including in Bonn (Kreuzbergkirche), Moenchengladbach (Minster Basilica), Minden (Cathedral) and Paderborn (Cathedral). In 2004 he began an eight-year tenure teaching organ at the Hanover University for Music and Dance. From 2012–14, he was cathedral organist and associate director of music for the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, Missouri (USA). He returned to Germany in 2014 and held positions in Metetlach (Saarland) and the abbey of Maria Laach. As a composer, Krahforst has written numerous works in many genres and as an organist recitalist, he has toured widely.
