Erik Satie (1866 - 1925) French composer and pianist. His music could be called a precursor to minimalism. This piece written for the piano in 1888 is the first in a set of Three Gymnopedies.
This, his most enduring composition, was orchestrated by Debussy in 1897. My transcription is taken note for note from the piano score. The solo stops on the Willis give a colorful pallet on which to explore Satie's beautiful melody.
