Ronald Perera (b. 1941) — Full Sun (2011) for organ
American composer Ronald Perera’s catalog includes operas, song cycles, chamber, choral, orchestral works, and several compositions with electronic tape. He has a particular focus on music with text and has set the words of many noted authors, both living and dead. Perera has received awards and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, ASCAP, the National Association of Teachers of Singing, the Artists Foundation of Massachusetts, Harvard University, the MacDowell colony, the Paderewski Fund, the Bogliasco Foundation, and Meet the Composer. He studied at Harvard University and the University of Utrecht. Perera served on the faculty of Smith College from 1971 until his retirement in 2002.
