Description: | I was honored to receive these works as a gift from Carson, and I am delighted to be able to start to hear and learn his wonderful music.
He appears to be a modest guy, so I will briefly list his accomplishments: He is from Rochester, NY. His output includes works in many forms, ranging from solo instrumental pieces to operas, and from orchestral works to hymn tunes. In continual demand for new commissions, his music has been performed on six continents.
He holds degrees from Harvard University and Carnegie Mellon University, and has been composer0in-residence at St. Paul's Cathedral, Boston and the Memorial Church at Harvard.
As an active concert organist, he specializes exclusively in the performance of new music. He is a writer on musical subjects, and is an active consultant both to composers and to performing organizations on music business matters.
"Berceuse" (2010) is dedicated to Henry Elwyn Forsythe-Jones on his birthday, February 28, 2010. The piece was premiered by his father, Edward Elwyn-Jones, at the Memorial Church on April 13, 2010.
The work is a tender lullaby, and features the strings of the Swell organ, with the Solo clarinet making an appearance as well.
THANK YOU for the gift of your music, Carson!
I'll be uploading more of these wonderful things as soon as I can learn them... ;-) |
