Uploaded by: Bartfloete (10/27/14)
Composer: Bach, Carl Philipp Emanuel
Sample Set: Claviorganum - Mietke/Oosterwijtwerd
Software: Hauptwerk IV
Genre: Baroque
Description:
And again on a claviorganum.

The claviorganum combines harpsichord and organ in a one or two manual chamber instrument. It has been known since the 15th century. Most old instruments are no longer playable, however, a few have been restored and copies have been built.

A contributor to CCH (takatsa) has combined the Mietke harpsichord (Sonus paradisi) and the Oosterwijtwerd sample set and created an odf for a claviorganum. For further information see http://forum.hauptwerk.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=13513#p100090.

A few years ago, I had the opportunity to play on a modern copy of a 1745 instrument at the Oberlinger Organ Art Museum in Windesheim, Germany. I can say that the combination set sounds very well. I have slightly increased the volume of the organ part to achieve a better balance between organ and harpsichord.

If you want to listen to a master of the claviorganum, go to

and listen to the short demo tracks of a CD by Claudio Brizi with music by Sweelinck, Frescobaldi, Pachelbel, Buxtehude and Bach. His recordings are very impressive.
