Sample Set: Caen - St. Etienne Cavaillé Coll
Software: Hauptwerk IV
Genre: Contemporary
Description:
Rolande Falcinelli was a student of Marcel Dupre, and succeeded him as organ professor at the Paris Conservatoire. She was a pioneer composer for the organ, searching for new techniques and greater virtuosity. She wrote several hours of organ music, much of it remains unknown. This piece"Mathnavi" is a musical representation of a story from the epic Persian poem of the same name. Falcinelli was interested in and studied eastern and Persian/Iraqi music and literature.
This piece is wild and not for the faint of heart... there is a reason I've never heard a performance nor a recording - it is EXTREMELY difficult. Before you congratulate me on my virtuosity, do note this is a MIDI interpretation... I don't have the technique to learn this in my lifetime!
That said, I did spend a good 2-3 years perfecting the midi interpretation, so I hope it accurately reflects how I would play it if I could! MIDI file included for those who own Caen 2.5 surround and want to test out your polyphony ;-)
