Fanfares from "Parsifal"

The LAST thing that was on my mind this morning was uploading the "Parsifal Fanfares"! REALLY!

I was depressed because I was (and am!) really struggling with an Elgar transcription, and I though, maybe there's another Elgar thingie I can do instead... I've been honored to have a number of Concert Hall members in my organ room, and they will attest that my "music storage" is NOT the neatest, nor the most logical. When I was rooting through my "E" drawer, this book, "At the Organ with Virgil Fox" was in there by mistake. I'd actually been looking for it some time ago. Normally, since this is a "book" I would "file" by placing it a pile that is currently about 4 feet high...

Suddenly, I recalled that the famous "Fanfares from the Good Friday Music" was in there. This is the EXACT arrangement that Fox used when he made the legendary recording at Wanamaker's in Philadelphia. Salisbury is not Wanamaker's but I personally think it's a "better" organ. It's just really loud enough, but it's still pretty mighty!

I dedicate this "out of the blue" performance to the memory of Msgr. John Beggins. He was the priest who let me practice on the church's 3 manual Schantz, if, and ONLY if I made him a solemn promise.

He took me down in front of the magnificent high altar (it WAS magnificent then), and said, "If you do this (play the organ), and if you get good at it, I want you to make me a solemn promise that you'll dedicate your talents to our Lord, and commit your service to Him."

I promised, and I'm trying, Monsignor!
