Composer: Shostakovich, Dmitri; transc. Woody/mC
Sample Producer: Milan Digital Audio
Sample Set: Notre Dame de Metz Mutin/Cavaillé-Coll
Software: Hauptwerk IV
Genre: Classicism
Description:
Perhaps the most well-known fugue of Dmitri Shostakovich from his Opus 87 ("24 Preludes and Fugues"). Originally written for the piano, it is prominently known for it's absence of harmonic dissonance, an element which Shostakovich was heavily building his pieces upon otherwise.

A more detailed description of the collection can be found on Wikipedia here:

Plus, a YouTube video shows both the score and how the piece sounds on the piano "as intended": https://youtu.be/nLMvjGS9XiA

This "transcription" is more or less a direct replay on the pipe organ using MIDI material, with a few pedal notes here and there added live during the recording to support the "foundation bass line" where I found it to be appropriate. The source MIDI file can be found in the attachments.

For those who own a 7.1 surround system, an 8-channel FLAC file can be picked up here to get an impression of what it will sound like in my living room:
