Description:
I really only intended this to serve as an "advertisement" for a big Thanksgiving piece by Marion Austin Dunn, but immediately realized that this is a wonderful little gem!

The piece is by Richard Czerwonky ((23 May 1886 — 16 April 1949). Czerwonky was a Polish born violinist who was the second concert-master of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.

"Cradle Song" was published by Carl Fischer in 1922. In this organ arrangement you can hear the beautiful "solo violin" writing, which works very well on the Peterborough Hill's Solo strings.

I played the piece before knowing anything about the composer, but the melody "felt like" something Polish or Russian, so, I was glad that I had correctly "identified" the nationality!

The arranger is the the American composer, Marion Austin Dunn (Marion Austin Dunn (26 April 1888 — 13 April 1959). I know very little about her, but I believe that was from Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The score is attached below, as well as two photos of Richard Czerwonky.

If you are interested in hearing an original work by Marion Austin Dunn, you can hear: "O'er flowery meads" here: http://www.contrebombarde.com/concerthall/music/35100

For Thanksgiving, I'll be uploading her "American Triumphant (Pilgrim Suite No. 3)." It's quite an amazing piece. It's partly grand concert music, but also partly a Radio City spectacular, so, I hope you will listen!
