A remastered version of my own improvisation from about 2 years ago (see
http://www.contrebombarde.com/concerthall/music/30081 for reference).
This was mainly a test of adding Impulse Response Reverb to my WAV editor using the SIR VST plugin -- obviously, the 32-bit DLL does even work in the 64-bit GoldWave application!
For testing purposes, I added the York Minster IR recording that I found on a long-gone website around 2013, which has about 10s of reverb. IMHO, this adds way more spacial feeling to the piece (and gravity to the Metz), which is absolutely intended here because of the "dialogue" scenario. Of course, more reverb is NOT a miracle cure for all pieces. Some of them sounded even less "meaningful" with more reverb -- but it's nice to know that I can finally have it when it's needed... :-)
The plugin only works on stereo input files, so there's no 7.1ch version of this particular experiment. Nonetheless, I'm going to try this out on a fitting piece in the future by applying it to the four individual stereo recordings (one for each HW audio group) before running my script to zip them together in a single 8-channel recording for cutting purposes. Unable to tell whether this will improve/smoothen the result or will have unexpected/negative side effects.
