Written by singer-songwriter David Gates, and recorded by his band Bread in 1971. Covered by numerous artists, including Petula Clark, Cleo Laine, Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, Jack Jones, and Telly Savalas (whose version reached #1 on the UK charts in 1975!) I learned this years ago and have been playing it from memory ever since. For this recording, I went back to the sheet music and created this new arrangement for the Concert Hall.
