New Samplesets: Noorlander Organs

*
Hi all,

It seems there's soon going to be a new sampleset maker - Dutch organ manufacturer and retailer Noorlander Organs. From their latest newsletter:

• Introduction sample set Kam-organ Grote Kerk Dordrecht

An iconic instrument with a unique sound. For many organists, the Kam organ of the Grote Kerk Dordrecht is one of the most special organs in the Netherlands.

Orgelmakerij Noorlander has made recordings of the Kam organ. You can play the sample set of the Kam organ before the end of this year. A warm romantic sound that will bring back memories of organists and impressive concerts. An instrument that suits the music of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Johannes Brahms. But French-romantic repertoire and Dutch chorale art also sound excellent on the Kam organ. Be inspired by the wonderful sounds of this imposing organ.

• Introduction sample set Bach organ Grote Kerk Dordrecht

On September 26th, 2007, Verschueren Orgelbouw (Heythuysen) completed a unique project. They made the Bach organ in the Grote Kerk Dordrecht. This instrument is an important enrichment of the Dutch organ collection and in particular of the Grote Kerk Dordrecht. A style copy of the work of the famous organ maker Gottfried Silbermann was never built before in the Netherlands. Moreover, from a stylistic point of view, the instrument is an important addition to the opus magnum of the organ makers Kam in the imposing 'Dordtse Dom'.

Orgelmakerij Noorlander has also made recordings of this inspiring organ. This organ will also be made available as a sample set before the end of this year.

It seems these sets are not available for Hauptwerk. Noorlander has developed their own vpo software, a direct competitor of Hauptwerk: dry sets with convolution reverb. At least that is what I read on the Dutch forum PCOrgel from people who attended the presentation of the sample sets.

WOW - that's both "interesting" and disappointing. I was aware that Kees Noorlander was VERY unhappy with the sudden "push" from HW4 to HW5 when it took place at the end of 2019, without ANY prior briefings to any of their HW resellers; but if they do not 'also' publish a HW4-HW6 version, they're cutting themselves off from a sizeable market share!
