Recording for posting

Does anyone else think some of the recordings posted on CB are missing some of the channels? I hear pieces that have very faint parts which might be routed to channels 3, 4, etc. Prof. Maier commented on a recent post "What I also don't like so much here is the use of obviously only the REAR signals. Too much mud in the fast, very complex passages."
The recorder in HW only records the 2 main channels, so that might be what is causing the problems.

That‘s not right. HW V and above records a downmix of all channels. Just as the organist has set his virtual listening position, it is recorded.

Of course you can decide to put certain channels into a mix of recording….
But standard the compete mix (with sound settings the player has done) is sent into the recording.

After that it’s possible to add extra things (reverb etc) or edit your recording (wav to mp3 is needed to post here)…

So, it’s always a heuse what the player did with his/her recording…

Would that mean that, in HW5 and above, channels are always downmixed to 2.0 stereo? If so, this would be a step backwards compared to HW4 and friends, where I could record the individual audio groups into seperate stereo recordings (which I then converted into a 7.1 surround recording using a bit of post-processing magic via FFmpeg). Hopefully, this feature did NOT bite the dust.

Of course you can also select discrete channels for recording in HW.
