One Million Listens!
Last Saturday, August 31, 2024, I finally arrived at ONE MILLION LISTENS!
I had previously hit 750,000 listens on September 3 of 2020.
I had intended to mention this on Tuesday, September 3rd 2024, as this was also the 13th anniversary of my joining the Concert Hall. Unfortunately, I was seeing a new doctor - another one trying to help with my serious health issues, and didn't get the chance to do so.
I'm not trying to make this an "academy awards ceremony for myself," but I did want to say THANK YOU to my many friends and listeners over the years.
When my career was stolen from me in 2001, I gave up music completely for about 8 years, and swore that I would never do it again...
It was only because of accidentally stumbling upon Hauptwerk that I wound up getting back into it, so, I'm grateful for this opportunity.
At the time of my career ending, I wasn't even known much as an organist any more, since all my work at that time was devoted to Anglican-style boy choirs, etc. At the point, I only played the occasional recital, accompanied the psalms at evensong, and did the accompaniments that might have been too much for my assistants to handle.
In retrospect, I have to admit that I was pretty happy to discover that I could still play the organ. More than that, I think I got a lot better over these 13 years, learning and recording a massive amount of repertoire, almost all of which was completely new to me.
So, a sincere THANKS to everyone who helped me hit the 1,000,000 mark!
Peace and Happiness to All.

RE: One Million Listens!
Two anniversaries to celebrate: your thirteen years in the Concert Hall and one million listens reached. We must celebrate these anniversaries because they show the importance and success of your contribution. We all continue to have a great need of your presence. And now on to the 'second million' of listens....

David, we are the ones who are Thankful to you! Listening to you play is uplifting AND educational. Looking through the printed music as I listen is almost as good as a lesson. Reading the background material about the composer is also very enjoyable. Your example of fighting through the health challenges and continuing to contribute is inspirational. I think you have accomplished more in your contributions here than if you had remained hidden away in the cloisters of a cathedral!

RE: One Million Listens!
Dear David,
congratulations from me too on this incredible, respect-inspiring number of listens!
Even though I have been following Contrebombarde for less than a year, you have quickly become an authority here - in terms of the quality of your uploads and the originality of your repertoire, but also in terms of your always friendly attentiveness to your listeners, as shown in the comments section of your recordings. A big thank you for that!
I wish you continued fulfilling music-making, but above all the strength and courage to face up to your health problems, and I look forward to your further contributions!

RE: One Million Listens!
A million listens is fantastic especially for organ. Thank you David, for all the work you do not the least of which is the background on the composers of the uploads. In two years I spent over a year in hospital so I feel your pain. I'll keep my fingers crossed as you soldier on with health issues. Ken
