Songs of Praise (Theme Music)

Herbert Chappell (1934-2019) was a British composer perhaps best known for his television scores. This piece was commissioned as the theme for the BBC TV series 'Songs of Praise' and used between 1980-1986, in a recording by Simon Preston at the organ of Christ Church, Oxford. Although the programme is still on the air the theme has been replaced by a Toccata by Robert Prizeman, sadly with the organ only playing a minor role!
