Description: | Bach's most famous chorale prelude, Jesu Bleibet Meine Freude, known in English as Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring, was written in 1716 as part of his advent Cantata BWV 147, and intended to be performed the Sunday before Christmas.
The melody is actually by Johann Schop, a once well known German violinst and composer, and originally written for the evening hymn 'Werde Munter meine Gemute'
The main melody, often performed by a trumpet, is accompanied by an ornate succession of flowing triplets, accompanied, by a deep and ponderous bass, which ascends and decesends, almost uninterupted, weaving it's restless movement till finally ending on a low G.
This is one of Bach's most famous works, being performed at weddings, funerals and many other ordinary and special occations.
Thank you for listening!
