This piece, number 4 of 'Five Short Pieces' was just one of a range of favourites of mine that Francis Jackson included on an iconic L.P. which he recorded in York Minster entitled The Saga Golden Treasury of Organ Music Volume 1 SAGA 5326 ℗ 1973. (Recording originally release in 1964 on Alpha label). Registered for two ‘?* flutes ’, the set of five pieces was published in 1930 by the OUP. The dedicatee of ‘Scherzo’ was John Somers Cocks, an organist who deputised at St, Mary’s Chatham when Whitlock was away.
