| Description: | Johann Gottfried Walther (1684-1748) was a German music theorist, organist, composer, and lexicographer of the Baroque era. Not only was his life almost exactly contemporaneous to that of Johann Sebastian Bach, he was also his cousin. He has written mostly organ works; many chorale preludes, variations, concerti, toccatas, preludes, fugues etc. I recorded a fine chorale prelude on a hymn that shares the same tune as 'Jesu Leiden, Pein und Tod'. |
