Fanfare

Jacques-Nicolas (Jaak-Nicolaas) Lemmens (1823–1881) was a renowned Belgian organist and one of the key figures in the development of the French organ tradition. He taught a long list of prominent students, including Alexandre Guilmant and Charles-Marie Widor.

This short, powerful Fanfare is a bravura concert piece. It is well suited to the stops available on a large three-manual Cavaillé-Coll organ, featuring a Grand jeu registration on all three manuals incorporating echo effects reminiscent of the French Baroque tradition.
