Here is another one of those rarely heard organ works. This time it is an early composition by a young Healey Willan, who spent much of his adult life in Canada. Inspired by the organ compositional school of England, where he grew up and received his training, this work includes a number of unusual features including one of organ music’s longest pedal points.
The over all musical experience to the listener is increased by the considerable drama of the short prelude followed by the excitement of the fugue.
