It almost seems as if Bach wrote this duet for soprano and alto for NeoBaroque. There's everything in here that's fun: most of all the continuous bass line that I put in the pedal. Isn't the tonal language of the master fantastic?
Well-known beyond the cantata itself is this duet for soprano and alto Wir eilen mit schwachen, doch emsigen Schritten (2nd movement), in which the bass line musically illustrates the "small but eager steps" through its movements, while the vocal parts represent the "hurrying" to Jesus with soaring melodic arcs.
We hear this duet first in an adaptation to the Eisenbarth organ in Friesach, then (from
05:30) on my highly esteemed Melcer Chamber Music Hall organ.
I am very curious which version you prefer!
